Junior Elites Visit The Dream Center

Posted on January 7th, 2014 under News

UCDC’s Junior Elites visited The Dream Center on November 27th. They toured the facility, learned what the establishment was about, and what an important impact the The Dream Center had and has made within our community. The girls collected stocking stuffers and then donated them to The Santa Shoppe. The girls were also interested in how they could help going forward so they were given a calendar with dates for childcare and the gift-wrapping room. The girls have since gone, on their own time, and volunteered during the month of December. This has also extended into the girls families. Siblings have gone with the girls and volunteered their time to make it a family affair. We are so proud of our Junior Elite team members and families for giving back to the community during this holiday season!

UCDC Teenies Jazz Company Teams Up with Backpack Ministry

Posted on January 7th, 2014 under News

Our Teenie Jazz Company collected treats and special snacks for less unfortunate kids by teaming up with Backpack Ministry. Backpack Ministry is a group of local churches that collect snacks and quick meals. The group collected these snacks and quick meals for families of children at Concrete Elementary. The Backpack Ministry does this on a weekly basis, providing guidance councilor Pat Jones with the items, where she then puts the items in children’s backpacks for them to eat over the weekend. Without this group, these children may otherwise have no food to eat during the weekends. Teenie members Josie Bruner and Hannah Reeves helped Mrs. Jones to deliver these items the week of December 19th! Thank you Teenies for your contribution to our community! We are so proud!
