UCDC Dancers Volunteer at the Special Olympics

UCDC dancers had the wonderful opportunity to volunteer at the Anderson Spring Special Olympics on 11 April 2012. We had 47 dancers volunteer from the Clogging and Jazz companies and many of their parents for this all day event. The event began with the running of the Olympic torch and the parade of athletes. We were excited to get to see our very own Shelby run with the torch, who is in the Challengers dance class. The athletes were age 8 – 60+ and they had a full day of softball distance throws, running, basketball, bean bag toss, etc. Some of the dancers were buddies with the special needs athletes, while others manned the tent to hand out water, free toys, snacks and popsicles. It was a rewarding day for our UCDC family to assist others in our community. Thanks again because you truly demonstrated our “212” motto!
